Hope to Magdalena
Even if magic is so unreliable so as to interfere with the letters you're not going to get away with sending the last one. It doesn't matter if you don't receive this until you emerge; I'm sending it anyway.
You were right not to tell me quite how dangerous this would be for you. Thank you for sparing me the vulnerability of asking you to do this or the pain of asking you not to. Several weeks until we can next speak - I hope to know more of Jaedien by then. Something about the grotto feels like I'll be able to learn more if I apply myself.
I have hope for your Mother. Maybe it's the excitable perspective of someone young who will grow to be ancient or someone who is seeing so plainly how far her own Empress came in just a few thousand years. Hope is the right thing to feel, tiny and cautious though it may be.
Stay safe; write as soon as you can.
