Bloodline Echo: Great Grandfather

According to family lore, he was born in a Carthian city in the early days of the empire, and took “forever” to settle down with anyone.   In the echoes you see, your great grandfather is dressed in traditional Carthian attire. He moves in it comfortably and speaks a recognizable sub-dialect of Carthian with the accent of a native speaker. (Best description I can give of this sub-dialect is that it’s common among tribes that live fairly deep in the jungles - it’s recognizable for the dropped words and the use of an imperative prefix that notes the urgency of what’s being said - i.e. there’s a prefix for “act on this instruction without question because your life is in danger” but also a prefix for “I’m telling a funny story, if you miss it, it’s not important”)   In these echoes your great grandfather is moving through deep parts of the jungle - in early echoes, he’s following groups of mostly Carthians but also a few other elves, getting a first hand education in the “what’s edible and what will kill you.” In most of the echoes, you see him carrying a well worn Carthian style utility knife (heavy blade, good for hacking away at the jungle but also really handy to harvest some of the fruits that have thick outer husks or stems that are difficult to detach.)   In later echoes, the roles seem to have reversed a bit - as an elf approaching 400, he’s still deep in the jungles still hanging around a lot of Carthians, but the Carthians who travel with him are mostly younger and he’s become a teacher and guide. While the early echoes had a level of distance between him and the Carthians he traveled with, in the later echoes, they speak to him like he’s a close relative or family member - occasionally cracking jokes about silly long ears who can’t smell when talking about other elves, but it’s said in a way that implies he’s not one of those silly long ears.   The last echo you see is a somewhat tearful goodbye - he’s dressed in more traditional elvish attire with an arm around an elven woman who’s at least two centuries his junior. While he’s dressed in more elvish fashion, the necklace he wears is similar to the ones worn by Carthian Elders and the tools at his waist and the bag slung over his shoulder are all of Carthian make. The woman looks at him as they walk away and asks “Will you miss it?” to which he nods, but you don’t catch his reply before you lose the thread of the echo.
Your second attempt at conjuring Bloodline Echoes goes back 4 generations to a paternal great-grandfather (your paternal grandfather’s father.)
