Parkland & Spanaway, Washington

The unincorporated domains of Parkland and Spanaway are two massively suburban domains, yet paradoxically quite active, both in positive and negative ways. While a majority of their demarcated space is made up of housing neighborhoods and suburbs, the primary stretch of Pacific Avenue, which goes all the way from downtown Tacoma through Spanaway until it splits into two, is devoted to a plethora of businesses and places to go.   The long stretch also gives many speed demons a chance to burn rubber or die (and too often recklessly kill) trying, and following the trend of Tacoma itself, the further south you go the more suspect of an area one will find themselves in, leaving crime aplenty active in the "cities".   But, among the Supernatural of the night, the two areas have plenty to provide. For the Kindred, overseen by the new Baron, Oenone Cortez, they can find ample blood and buisnesses to take advantage of, so long as they don't go too far, and the Baron's own stance on organzied crime and reckless endangerment has actually acted to make the area marginally safer in return.   For The Awakened, the popular University provides the perfect space for a larger chantry to be made, despite the influence of The Weakness, as does the relatively large Spanaway Park and Spanaway Lake. To this end, The Celestial Chorus and The Verbena watch over the humans of the area.   While Garou may not live among their neighborhoods they ride along their streets and are only ever a stones toss away, and so the Wyrm will not live to fester so long as they have anything to say about it, and when their claws do the talking they get quite verbose.

History

This part shall be rather brief. Parkland and Spanaway were both settled in the mid-to-late-1800's, the former being named for it's plethora of scenic, flat views and the latter being named by a mutation of the Lushootseed term Spadue, which referrs to the fields of edible roots that grew in the land. They developed and were settled along with the surrounding cities and mostly became residential suburbs with the main road being the one exception as an active, inter-city street that leads out into various different highways and substreets. Despite many attempts, both are still unincorporated areas, and so are not their own cities seperate from Tacoma, but locals will know the difference anyways.   For Kindred, it was mostly acknowledged as just that, another part of Tacoma, but one they enjoyed a lot of feeding potential from, especially those who were either stealthy enough to break into peoples homes or crafty enough to control the criminals that would weave or squat through the area. During the Sabbat invasion it was largely untouched, save for the Havens it provided, and now it falls under Oenone Cortez, a ferociouslly righteous young woman who seeks to keep it safe.   For Mages, the founding of Pacific Lutheran University in 1890 gave a passageway for The Celestial Chorus to establish a Chantry within it's halls, which would soon fold in The Order of Hermes as a structural partner. Others are allowed and encouraged to join in their plenty, but they run the joint. Despite the continued urbanization, The Verbena wove passageways and rituals into the swirls of Spanaway Lake and the whorls of the trees in Spanaway Park, leaving themselves their own place of power despite The Weakness.   Garou once ran in the fields freely in their native days, but as settlers quashed their rebellions and urbanization took hold, the Weaver held too strong of a sway, and so they left the area mostly to it's own devices. But, many have carved safe hiding spots out of the Umbra and reality to accomodate travellers who would find themselves there from many roads. Their proximity to the large forested territory within Joint Base Lewis-McChord also gives a decent enough population to the area, even if they don't stick around their neighborhoods often.

Demographics

Supernatural Demographics

Despite being quite the populated area, there are only around 60 Kindred in both cities represented in this domain. This mainly comes down to the fact that the area is primarily suburban, and therefore don't make for easy predation. That's not to say it's difficult, quite the opposite, but there's less of an active Kine population to feed off of or base a scheme around. Out of the Kindred that are in the areas, they're most commonly from Clan Brujah following the Baron, Oenone Cortez with the Ravnos and Gangrel following afterwards.   Many mages don't go south of 56th street for a variety of reasons, especially because the Weakness is stronger the further you go. But, despite this domain being very far south, stretching even past most of Lakewood, there are still some significant pockets of Awakened. Two groups have made small Chantries within the domain limits, the comparatively larger of the two being centered around Pacific Lutheran University and made up of The Celestial Chorus and The Order of Hermes members. The second is a chantry forged by The Verbena that weaves through Spanaway Park, Spanway Lake, and the Bresemann Forest to both of those attractions' north. While all are welcome, the only permenant residents are of that group.   The Garou largely do not live in the area, urbanization aside. For them, it is far too residential and crowded to move without feeling eyes on you, and even the Glass Walkers find it too mundane and hard to manipulate. However, along the main stretch of Pacific Avenue South, you can find many roving packs of Garou reveling and howling, usually posing as mere biker gangs, as they make their way out to the various highways to go about their business. It's proximity to Joint Base Lewis-McChord also makes it a byway for roaming Garou who are making their way into the Caerns inside that territory.   While few Wraith's linger in Tacoma, with the Weakness opening the path to Oblivion too readily, there is a roving group of poltergeists who call themselves Roadkill Revengers, the spirits of those struck in the road in the area. They often stick to their final resting places, but sometimes peal away to cause havoc on reckless drivers or disrespectful travellers.

Human Demographics

Since we are dealing with two locations and percentages are hard, let's begin this with a table:
Parkland Spanaway

Districts

Technically, Parkland and Spanaway are Districts for Tacoma as a whole, as they are unincorporated areas. However, for the Kindred who divvy up their domains, they seperate the area of Pacific Lutheran University, the most populous stretch of Pacific Avenue, the area surrounding Spanaway Park and Lake, and the small area of Loveland, the last stop before one leaves the domain of the Barons.
