The Chasm Testament

What is the Chasm Testament?

It is the founding document of the Burrowers, which describes their origin story, their connection to the broad valturo society, and all the technical details that are required to cover an organization.

The origin story

It might be just a story to give some mystical vibe to the organization. It is the story of Yunessa, who founded the burrowers. She lived in Stormperch, and once she fell into a chasm that is quite frequent in that area. There is no mention of how a valturo can fall into a chasm, but as the story goes, she injured herself during the fall, and wandered for days within the Cutter until finally she found a way out of the mountain. While she was seeking her way out, she found veins of minerals and wandering creatures. She realized that while her people are airborn, they need to dig into the mountain to improve and ease their way of life. This was her story, and it became the story of all the Burrowers who later chose to live under the rocks and not fly in the skies.

Duties of the Burrowers

The testament recognized the Burrowers as an autonomous guild under the oversight of the Roostmaster, and it describes their responsibilities.
  • They are responsible for digging the tunnels into the Cutter, where the vangola caravans can carry food, equipment, and various items in vast quantities from one nest to another.
  • They are also responsible for looking for veins of minerals and blocks of crystals that can be mined.
  • And they are the first line of defense against the monsters living in the mountain.
  • Structure of the Burrowers

The testament also describes the various roles within the Burrowers.
  • Deepbound (guild leader)
  • Pathwrights (chief engineers)
  • Lanterns (scouts and guides)
  • Stonecallers (miners and collectors)
  • All those reaches they can dig out
