Pathseekers

The emergence of the profession

Astrologists existed Then. And the pathseekers evolved from astrology. However, their work is much more complicated, and only a very few people believe in their findings. The arrival of Absence and Abundance and the Rending has changed everything. Tacillia’s sun and the other planets are either destroyed or flung outside into space. The stars that were fixed points on the sky started to move, and the Savior Gods’ constellations became the only permanent guides. This strange new world required new methods to foretell the future and the omens. The people who were trying to do that became the pathseekers.

What activities are they engaged in?

Because they evolved from astrology, their activities are heavily influenced by the astrologers of Then. However, they must work with different variables. They are monitoring the movement of the stars and trying to find some pattern in this movement in connection with the constellations of the Savior Gods. So far, stars come and go, never to be seen again. They are trying to interpret anything as celestial omens, signs, or divine messages. Some of them attempt to utilize the bones of ancient creatures and ancient technology to achieve something, but even the regular pathseekers shun these practitioners. A small group of them tries to create star maps. However, without a cyclical movement of the stars, this is a pointless activity. The only starmap they can make is about the constellations, and these maps are highly sought after by every traveler who needs to find their way in the wild or on the seas.

What is their level of acceptance?

It varies, but mostly it is very low. Against the astrologers, the majority of the people don’t trust the pathseekers, because they are unable to predict anything. And even a five-year-old kid knows when to sow and harvest. Some still ask for their help, mainly due to tradition. Most nobles and rulers support them. Who knows? Maybe one day they will finally crack the mysteries of the sky. They also have a couple of them in the Parliament, but these pathseekers are more scholarly than the rest.
Pathseekers… Bah… Charlatans all of them
