Lucifer
The early life
Lucifer was the runt of the litter. He was still a kitten when he found himself in a rescue shelter. There, he got sick and someone named him Lucifer, although there wasn't a single slice of evil in him. Luckily for him, a lovely lady rescued Lucifer from the shelter, and she nursed him back from his various sicknesses. She was a foster parent, and she had an ever-changing cadre of cats that he adopted to various people.
One day, three people came to the lady. Lucifer thought, "This is my chance." He climbed onto one of their laps, and half an hour later, he was going to his forever home. He quickly learned that he was a "pet" and the person who adopted him was his "owner", but he didn't care. Finally, he was at home.
Unfortunately, neither knew at the beginning what to do with the other. Lucifer wasn't around people much, and he was his owner's first pet. So the first couple of years were a bit problematic, but they played a lot, and both of them enjoyed each other's company. Especially just before both of them went to sleep, they were lying next to each other, Lucifer continuously purring while his owner was petting her.
The golden age
As the years passed, their connection became stronger, and they became close friends. They didn't play as much as earlier. Lucifer didn't really require it after he grew into a beautiful cat, but from time to time, they still had fun frisking around. Owner and pet were a thing of the past. They truly became best friends. But it wasn't everything perfect for Lucifer's friend. He had a couple of private problems, and he was very sad many times. Most of the time, he was peaceful and sometimes happy when they were lying in bed next to each other as part of their evening routine, like Lucifer was somehow healing him with his presence and love for his friend.
The twilight years
Unfortunately, every good thing must come to an end. Lucifer and his friend were living in a lovely apartment. But one day, someone moved in above their head, and the nice, peaceful life ended. They had to move, and in the next four years, they lived in three different places. The third one was their last stop, but it wasn't ready, and many people moved around the house to fix all the things that needed to be fixed. Neither Lucifer nor his friend liked this. They just wanted to have peace and quiet. During these troubling times, their connection grew even more, and they became brothers. And it didn't matter how things were going, they continued to keep their evening routine, lying next to each other, and his brother listening to Lucifer's purring.
But came a day when Lucifer felt that something was off. He started to ache everywhere. He wasn't hungry, and he wasn't thirsty. His brother didn't realized it for a couple of days that something bad is happening, because before storms Lucifer was like this. He didn't eat or drink; he just slept. But when his behavior didn't change, they went to the vet. Unfortunately, by that time, it was too late. Both his brother and the vet fought for weeks, but Lucifer was very tired and just wanted to end it. On a rainy day, they said their last goodbyes, and Lucifer was gone. His last thought was that he knew his brother would be very sad again, and he won't be able to help him, to heal him, but that moment was Lucifer's story, and that story ended.
Lucifer's legacy
Unbeknownst to the two brothers, there was a qat that walked past by when Lucifer was at his end. First, she only felt a tremendous sadness and pain from the brothers. When she probed their minds, and seeing what the brothers went through, the love they had for each other, she realized there are ways to live in Tacillia, not just planning world domination. She immediately forgo her previous plans and started to broadcast telepathically to her mother, siblings, and children what she saw and what she felt. Those she contacted broadcast everything to even more qats and so and so.
Of course, not all qats believed what they heard. Or just didn't care at all and went back to world domination. But maybe, just maybe, this can be Lucifer's greatest achievement. Healing a loathed, detested, hated species, and raising them on the level of the other sentient races.

We never had anybody to look up to. Maybe Lucifer will be our Elder

Author's Notes
My little cat passed away at the age of 14 in November 2024. Since then, I wanted to immortalize him in my world, and this seemed the perfect opportunity. Goodbye, my friend, my brother! I'll never forget you.
