The Hill That Would Be Kanda Sentran Struggled On!   The failing settlement was accosted by all sides at all times by the wrath of nature, the primal deities of the land and dread beasts that they could not tame or fight back!
Their numbers dwindled and The Two Brothers Beseeched the Gods, begging for answers.   They sacrificed their last, greatest livestock at dawn to summon aid and the Gods Answered With The Eight Founders!

The year on the hilltop was miserable.   The deities of the land did NOT accept these new refugees and assaulted them with ill weather, poor harvests and personal physical attacks, ensuring that the people were unable to take care of themselves, defend themselves from the wrath of nature or the slathering beasts that sought to drag away the weakest of them into the darkness of the night.   Unable to do anything but wait for death, The Two Brothers held firm together and took stock of their greatest and largest beasts; bulls with the finest curled horns and the largest and most powerful legs.
Surely, the people told them, they would need to conserve such animals for the good of the settlement but the Two Brothers saw through this temptation.   Perhaps it would be good to have these animals around to let them die slow, starving, gradually weakening deaths...
But the Two Brothers instead decided to sacrifice the entire herd of Divine Cattle to the Gods, beseeching them to grant mercy upon them and to bring them those that would empower them and save the settlement.   In a literal blink, Eight Great figures arrived to The Two Brothers and stood before them with authority and power and magic! These Eight would come to be known as follows: The Father Of War The Mother Of The Arts The Maiden Of Health The Counter Of The Earth The Bringer Of Fertility The Teacher Of Scholars The Speaker Of Truth The Builder Of Cities   And it would be these eight great founders that would help to lay down every part of Kandia society thereafter!
