Karmal
Saved from a life as a despondent vagabonds, Karmal is a one of the most skilled students on the monk school of the Phoenix Lotus under the tutelage of Master Khura.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Young, healthy, and well disciplined, Karmal closely models the ideal physique. Towering over most others, he is an imposing presence. Comprised primarily of lean muscle, with slim clothing that allows for great flexibility, he would be a statuesque specimen in other locations, with little imagination spared. His dark hair is shaved close to the head to remove distractions in the day to day life, and to cast a more imposing visage.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Karmal only has fleeting memories of his parents. He remembers running and hiding, a lot. In hindsight, he thinks they were being chased by the Intransican Empire, seeing their kind as an eternal enemy. He's not fully sure what happened to them either, only that somehow, he ended up alone, trying to survive in Allakham, the capital city of Suka. He had run with an "orphanage", turning the children into thieves and crooks to earn their keep.
Karmal's eagerness to please his corrupt steward and earn his keep, while foolish, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. He wanted to prove himself by stealing from someone that no one else would dare. Showing surprising strength, and a reckless brabery, he managed to climb the stone walls of the Temple of the Phoenix Lotus. In searching for a great treasure to take, he was caught by Khura, the Master of the school.
Rather than merely sending Karmal back out on the streets, or given to authorities and a doomed life in prison, Khura saw the potential in this tough, brave young Orc. He took the child in, acting not only as a teacher, but as a surrogate father, shaping him to be as strong mentally and emotionally as he was physically.
He has exceeded not only his own expectations of what he could become in the school, but even Master Khura is surprised. Karmal is one of the most gifted and disciplined students he's ever had.
Sexuality
Having been under the closest watch in the Temple through nearly all of his formative years, Karmal has never had a chance to pursue romance. He's had dreams and wayward thoughts of desires with women, especially in his teenage years, that Khura was able to guide him through.
Sexual desire is just like any other feeling or emotion one has. It is never pure good or bad. Trying to fulfill that desire can bring joy and despair. Demonizing desire can be just as destructive to a soul as becoming a slave to it. Managing those feelings, understanding what they truly mean is necessary to establishing the correct course of action.
Education
Master Khura ensured Karmal wouldn't just be a skilled fighter. Karmal can not only read and write, but has been studied in many philosophical texts on the nature of life in T'sara. This also lead to a study of the Gods, the faiths surrounding them, and the obscure and bizarre phenomenon of the world.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Although there is much to be said for having his life turned around and proving to be a prodigy in the martial arts, Karmal has little to lay claim to as his personal accomplishments. An inevitable consequence of never leaving the temple grounds. Soon, that may change. A tournament among the various temples and schools is being held soon, where Karmal is expected to participate.
Morality & Philosophy
For better or worse, Karmal is effectively a copy of Khura's ideology and beliefs. Being under strict confines of the temple, he's had little opportunity to exercise his own mind outside of the words he's heard and read.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Karmal wants to be the best student Khura has ever had. What he often forgets in that is that Khura wants him to not only be an adept fighter, but to possess a strong mind. Soon, he'll be allowed to venture out of the temple again, the first time since he was taken in as a student, and knows he will always be representing his master in one essence. He is both excited for the possibilities, but also scared of the possibilities.
Discipline is easy to maintain while under strict observation and the thought of punishment constant. How he'll behave and honor what he was taught when left alone in the world is a different challenge. He believes he is ready, but on occassion has doubts.

Wealth & Financial state
Karmal has no wealth, and no possessions of his own, save the clothes on his back. Even the room that he sleeps and meditates in is only a part of the Temple. It is a stark reminder that everything he has is because of Khura and the temple, and that if he were to walk away from the Temple, he would leave with nothing.
It is also a philosophical teaching, that the less one possesses, the less one is burdened. Material possession does not bring one any greater joy, fulfillment, or purpose, and can often pull away from those noble ambitions, and one's true goals in life.
