Atticus (a.k.a. Attie)

Physical Description

Physical quirks

Attie is somewhat farsighted due to her anatomically arachnid eyes, and a little faceblind as well. She is ambidextrous.

Special abilities

Atticus has fully-functioning gills, and can breathe easily both in air and underwater. Additionally, after her "rebirth" by Moskal, her skin has microscopic striations like a worm or a gecko, which allows her to climb walls with ease.

Apparel & Accessories

When out and about, Attie likes to cover up her more unusual features in order to avoid unwanted attention. She will typically wear a deep-brimmed hat (like a fedora), scarf with shirt collar tucked in, gloves, and a full-length trench coat, at minimum. She chooses very drab and neutral colors in order to blend in, although at home she is rather partial to swishy skirts and the colors pink and purple. Since the Moskal incident, Attie has completely let herself go in terms of “looking acceptable”. She only wears clothing when she has to, and is covered head to toe in assorted fungi, algae, and lichens.

In the abscence of any evidence otherwise, Attie has decided that she is probably a girl. Sometimes she wonders if she’s not a boy too, though.

There are only five things that matter, in this world or the next, and their names are Sam, Eugene, Walter, Jaimie, and Atticus. Everything else is of no consequence, unless it gets in the way of the five things that do, in which case, it must be removed.

Taboos

Implying that there isn't any way to eventually bring her family back together and have things the way they were before. In the back of her mind, she knows this is impossible, but they were the only safe and sane forces in her life, and she cannot accept that even if she gets them back, things will be changed.

Atticus WILL reunite the Greywater Orphans. Obviously, she prefers to do so in life, but if she dies trying, well, she’ll keep at it anyhow.

Nothing escapes Atties’s notice. She is so perceptive that she can read lips from 50 paces.

Likes & Dislikes

Attie loves heights, being underground, and especially being underwater, as those places are very inaccessible so represent safety from things that might hurt her. She prefers cities to rural areas for the reason that they provide far more of these areas and have a higher tolerance for general weirdness.   Atticus has an instinctive distrust for anything with a spirit. This includes fey, plants, and herself. The one exception to this rule is Jamie. She is mortally afraid of fae and large wildernesses, although this has been dulled somewhat due to her worst fears having been realized. Forests and cold are her least favorite biomes, as they remind her of Moskal.

Virtues & Personality perks

Atticus is extremely stubborn and unswayable in her convictions. She will do anything for the health, happiness and safety of her friends. This is not hyperbole. She would trade a thousand lives for theirs in an instant. Even death will not stop her.

Vices & Personality flaws

Atticus no longer has any regard for life or property. Her predominant emotion has also shifted from fear to rage. Altogether, an extremely unstable and dangerous individual.

Personality Quirks

Attie has a habit of lurking under boardwalks and watching/eavesdropping on people having normal lives. Coincidentally, this allows her to pick up a lot of rumors and potential intel. This also means she's often sopping wet, as she simply swims around in her clothes when she needs to go places but doesn't feel like keeping up the charade of normalcy. When discovered swimming, she tends to float facedown like a corpse hoping the person will go away, but if they start to investigate further will abruptly flip over and bare her teeth. This has yet to fail to scare them away.   When surprised or scared, Attie releases a cloud of spores from her gills. Lately, she has also begun doing so when enraged as well.

Social Aptitude

Attie was never socialized as a child, and so was essentially feral until she was picked up by the Greywater Orphanage at the estimated age of 5. In combination with her general features being incompatible with much of the wider world, this has resulted in her being extremely nervous and socially inept, to the point that she actually scares people who don't know her. She is very eager to please and wants friends desperately, but it is very difficult for her to get past the early stages. Miserable. She really can’t give a flying fuck how she comes off anymore.

Journeying feels so . . . empty, without them. Two people alone are no match for the world. Thank goodness we will not have to deal with this for long. It's unnatural. Sam has been taking it worse than I have, I think. I don't know if she realizes our circumstances are only temporary. She seems very torn up about the eggs and the larvae - I have yet to convince her of their utter unimportance. I hope I can help her look towards the future instead of the past - it holds such promise!   Unprecedented success on our first day of searching. Walter was located in less than an hour and successfully taken back to our accommodation. He's a little worse for wear, but I cleaned him up as best I can. I have a feeling the rest won't be so easy, but this early victory has put me in high spirits.   A new accessory has presented itself to us. His name is Rowan - another Greywater, though none of note. He shares my interest in returning the departed to a functioning body. His formal education can perhaps supplement my own necromantic dealings - two minds will surely progress faster than one. He has not yet proven himself a danger, although he doesn't seem entirely there. This may be a boon - perhaps he will remain too distracted by his own affairs to impede our mission.

Word left in mind: “Vitya” < former name   My history???? Moskal’s demons “very dangerous”. Am I very dangerous??? Moskal is a person who makes “demons” - we are a mishmash of creatures. Yeva rescued many of us when I was around 5, and brought us to live protected in a cave by the sea. I got lost in the woods on the way? She continues to mourn my loss??? Vitya (my baby name), Yzebel, Krem, Vladimir are siblings. About 16 other “demons” live in a cave in Tauth w/Yeva, 2 have disappeared at some point but the cave is presumed safe from Moskal since they have lived fine so far. >> What is Yeva Moskal? (She is a dark elf and cleric of "The Goddess" LOLTH, Lolth is mean and should die) First experiments - gnome to spidery gnomes, second gen magic dark elf spiders, not good at it (does once or twice per year and fucks up often) - third batch try to merge dwarves and dark elves “Duergar” both SOULS AND SPIRITS, Undertaker DON’T LIKE THAT she messin with life forces bad! I'LL STICK WITH MY FRIENDS THANKS.   The Undertaker said I am “the only one who can bring Yeva, her kids and worshippers out of existence” (she indoctrinated her kids with her own beliefs). He gave Jaimie a boon to “kill everyone in the cave system except Attie, completely eradicate Yeva Moskal’s work”. AFTER DUTY WAS DONE JAIME’S BORROWED TIME WAS DONE AND THE UNDERTAKER TOOK JAIME (his original body died in a forest fire in the Feywilds at age 7). WE ARE NOW ENEMIES. FUCK SPIRITS.

Что ру́сскому здо́рово, то не́мцу сме́рть. (Chto rússkomu zdórova, to nyémtsu smért) “What is good for a Russian is death to a German.” Protection from Poison. Run focus over "gill" sides of neck, trace down to chest, and then "flick" outwards away from body of target.
Вода́ ка́мень то́чит. (Vadá kámen' tóchit) “Even water cuts stone.” Ray of Enfeeblement. Abruptly slap bicep with focus, violently direct focus towards target while dropping arm.
