Fishing

Syrik International Fishing System

Within the world of Syrik, all players alike are allowed to partake in the Joy of fishing.   When attempting to fish in any body of water, you are able to participate in the thrill of the fishing hunt by pitching yourself against other fellow enthusiasts

Requirements to Fish

  • 1. You will require any of the following items within your inventory:
    • Fisher’s supplies
    • Javelins/Spears
    • Fishing net
  • 2. Be near any reasonable body of water that is not immediately hazardous or dangerous.
  • 3. Not impeded by any other RP Obligations (Such as RP bubble)
  • 4. Have not reached your max quota of fishing per month
Each player who meets the requirement can fish, to a max of 25 catches per DTD period

How to begin Fishing

Step 1: Fishing

Each Fishing attempt consists of the following:
Spotting the fish
Pass a Perception Check to check if you were able to spot any fish during this time or have one hooked   Base DC: 15   Any relevant lore within the region such as area, bodies of water will provide advantage while environmental factor can increase or decrease fishing DC
Catching the fish
Use any of the following appropriate skill checks to capture the fish
  • Sleight of Hand
  • Nature
  • Survival
  • Animal Handling
  • Athletics
  • Performance
Base DC: 15   Any relevant lore within the region such as area, bodies of water will provide advantage   Dolider has advantage on all fish catches but you run the risk of hazardous engagements. So fish at your own discretion.

Step 2: Determining what fish you receive

The Base pool starts at 1d12   If you mean the following criteria, you receive an additional d6:
  • 1. Proficiency in Fishing tools
  • 2. Proficiency in nature or survival (not both)
  • 3. Fishing encyclopaedia
Upon rolling all your d6s, consult the fish table to determine the type of fish (choose between freshwater and saltwater depending on location of body of water)

Step 3: Determining size of the fish

If they captured a fish, roll a D20 to determine the size.
  • 1-14 Normal size (no point bonus)
  • 16-19 Large size (1.5x score increase)
  • 20 Extremely large size (2x score increase)
E.g if they rolled a Bluegill (which is 14 score), roll a D20. If they get 1-13 it is still 14, if it is 16-19, its 21 pts, if its a 20, its 28 points.

Step 4: Adding scores

Upon scoring the fish, the player has the option to keep the fish or let the fish go. Each has its separate benefits.   Keep the fish: The fish can be kept as an equivalent to a day ration based on the size of the fish. The fish (if not preserved or stored properly, will rot by the end of the DTD phase)
  • Tiny Fish: 0.5 Ration
  • Small Fish: 1 Ration
  • Medium Fish: 2 Rations
  • Large Fish: 3 Rations
  • Very Large: 4 Rations
Let it go: The fish can be returned to the water of which the fish score will be added to your running tally. Each tally will increase your overall fishing rank (has no benefits except having a fishing title)
