Shai-Yu Sen

Endurance, Strength, Victory

Among the greatest warriors, few would dare claim that strength is measured solely by the number of lives one can take. Shai-Yu Sen was one such warrior, a relentless force on the battlefield-unyielding, indomitable, and seemingly born for the art of war. Yet for all their prowess, Sen never sought glory in violence. Their hand was always laid down in the pursuit of peace and not for the sake of meaningless bloodshed. They were feared for their strength, and revered for their mercy.   Shai-Yu Sen was, by all accounts, the embodiment of a one-person army, capable of standing alone against hundreds, if not thousands. Time and again, they held entire armies at bay in truly legendary feats of strength. Yet no awards awaited them. No titles nor honor granted to them. Their accomplishments only served to fulfill the ambitions of those who commanded them. What little reward there was for Sen was simply in the accomplishment of sparing the lives of their allies and people they might have been protecting.   They served many lords during their mortal life, each more power-hungry and self-serving than the last. To them, Sen was a weapon to be used and a means to achieve dominance. Yet despite countless betrayals by these lords, Sen never turned their back on those who did the same to them. Their belief in the goodness of others-though endlessly tested-remained unshaken. Even when left to die on the battlefield, Shai-Yu Sen stood firm, achieving impossible victories but never truly claiming victory in any war or conflict.   The lives taken by Sen weighed heavily upon them the more they fought. The victories offered no solace, only furthering the guilt they felt for taking the lives of so many. In time, the dead manifested themselves to Sen, returning as an unrelenting chorus of anguish, rage, and sorrow. Many others would have broken beneath such torment, Shai-Yu Sen endured. Their unyielding will turned what might have been a curse into a source of peace. They faced each soul of the fallen - not with hostility, but with humility and compassion. They offered long-overdue apologies to some and justice or peace to others. In their moments of reflection, Sen found a way to connect with these spirits, guide some to rest and others to abandon the anguish they felt.   Those that stayed chose to do so not out of hatred, but by reverence. They formed a bond with Sen, transforming them into a beacon and vessel for the fallen. Through this, Sen became a saint under one of the old gods, revered by the living and the dead as a champion. This worship would eventually lead them to godhood as when the old divinity fell, worship would pass towards them. Many seeking the protection of this champion saint, and the strength to see through the dark times left by the fall of the old pantheons.   Domains: Celebration, Order, Peace, Strength, Tempest, and War

Shai-Yu Sen attempts to be peaceable amongst the other deities, often serving others in their desires and goals rather than pursuing their own. They possess few enemies outside those that are naturally aligned against them in the lower planes. But Shai-Yu Sen’s empowerment through the spirits of the dead does earn them the ire of Torukk. The reaper believes that all spirits are for him to shepard and any others held by mortals or gods have been misplaced. Shai-Yu Sen does not wish to create conflict with the reaper but is split between betraying those who have chosen to stay with them and returning them to the natural cycle.
