Church of Osov'Preqa

Little is known of Osov’Preqa and the true nature of their divine ascension, their mere existence is marred by controversy and contradiction. Many religious scholars claim that the god has always existed, their presence one of the few that has remained unchanging across millennia. Religious texts, dating back to the earliest epochs support this claim with depictions of the god as an omnipresent force interwoven with much of creation itself. These writings establish Osov’Preqa as having existed within the previous pantheons and possibly even earlier, as an integral part of the firmament.   Yet there are detractors to these claims. Others argue that the divinity and even existence of Osov’Preqa are far more recent. They suggest that while historical texts now predominantly feature the god, they did not always do so. Fragments of manuscripts recovered from old Primogen ruins occasionally contradict the commonly held beliefs of Osov’Preqa’s faithful. They often fail to mention the god in contexts where they are now said to have been central. The controversial theory that has spawned from this is that a force and even possibly Osov’Preqa themselves rewrote the records of the past to establish themselves as an eternal constant.   Either way, what information is granted to the mortal masses is primarily through these ancient texts. Osov’Preqa scarcely makes contact with any individual, and usually only does so to dispense prophecy or omens. Osov’Preqa is most commonly depicted as a towering, celestial figure. Their form is an ethereal mass of darkness adorned with glimmers of silver like stars against a night sky. This incorporeal visage wears a cracked porcelain mask, half radiant and pristine, the other half fractured and shadowed.

Osov’Preqa finds the majority of his followers amongst the avians of the world. They often look to the god to offer them guidance on how to best make use of their limited time in the world. This is especially true amongst the Aarakocra and Aerval communities who have the shortest average lifespans of their brethren.  

Tenets

• Freedom by Fate. Your choices have long been made, feel no remorse when making them.
• Keep Close the Truth. Secrets must be protected and shared only when the time is right.
• Find Serenity. Grief is no more escapable than fate, embrace and grow from it for that is how one finds humility and clarity of purpose

Sins

• Profaning the Divine. Leave the matters of the divine to the gods, do not attempt to pierce the divine mystery.
• Destiny is Inevitable. You cannot escape your fate, no man can. Attempting to defy it will only lead to greater suffering.
• Defiling Prophecy. The words of the divine are definitive, to act against them is sacrilege.
