Warcaya
Keeper of the Cave Routes

Flag of Bregos by Naelin
One of those, taking care of the secret roads to the fallen town, has lived a harsh life but stays standing for his people. He is known as Warcaya and is often the first contact with the Breguine culture that outsiders have.
Physical Aspect
Body
Warcaya is a furry societarians of markhor phenotype, a kind only found in his area and nowhere else in the island. His body is covered by thick, long, pale brown fur that grows exceptionally long and dark on his chin, neck and chest forming an impressive beard.
Two dark lines run through the length of his body on the side and the back on each side, while his forearms and feet are much paler.
He has a muscular and broad-shouldered complexion, despite which he is surprisingly nimble.
His horns are the most impressive part of his image, spiralling up and forming a tall cone-shaped staircase along their small bumps.
Dressing Style
Warcaya wears traditional Breguine clothing of bright colours and good coverage, consisting of durable wraps of trelis wool with a wide wool coat on top, and a turban to protect his eyes and head from the cold and the sun.As with most Breguine, he would use coal and other dark pigments around the eyes and muzzle in winter to guard against the reflections from the snow up in the mountaintop.
Personality
Warcaya is confident and dependable, but also a trickster that likes fooling others and trying their patience.Despite the many deep emotional scars of his tragedies, he manages to stay strong for his people, though many days are rough and have him sombre and unapproachable.
Likes & Dislikes
Learning and solving puzzles, reading books and teaching survival and hunting skills to the community's kids are Warcaya's favourite activities. He profoundy hates vylkas.
Life
Warcaya was born and lived all his life in his community of Bregos. His parents worked in the construction and maintenance of the Breguine Cave Routes, with him following them to work from a young age and learning the intrincacies of the many dark roads and turns. He soon became proficient enough about the underground tunnels to become a keeper of the cave routes, going from the foot of the mountains to the top sometimes several times a day, taking goods and travellers with him, and ensuring no stray Merthiornites "accidentally" found their way into the caves.A life of Tragedy
By the time Warcaya was 23 he was in a long-standing relationship with a woman from the community called Rochir, a well-known architect of the hanging houses, when they discovered she was pregnant with his child. They made their home in Warcaya's family house, living with his parents and grandparents, and a lively baby was born. Merely months after the birth of his only child, he was summoned from his work at the caves to go back to the city, where he learned that Rochir and their child had been surprised by a roaming vylka as she was scavenging.
In the frenzy of the attack, she lost grip of the kid and fell into a crevice, where she was rescued hours later.
Rochir died two weeks later of her injuries, and their baby was never found. Warcaya lived in despair for the next years, going through the motions. Still, as the pain slowly settled he became close with a man of bighorn sheep phenotype named Vikor who worked with him in the caves, and though Warcaya had no interest in males and his grief made him feel guilty, enough time led Vikor and him to develop a romantic relationship full of mutual understanding, healing and patience. And then the High Rust hit with its full, unforgiving force in Bregos, destroying buildings, farms, bridges and lives on its way. Rust took his family and most of his friends and, for the second time, he lost his love to it, but in a cruel twist of fate he came out of it untouched by the blistering pest. As he saw his community fall, his loved ones die and his city destroyed, Warcaya was taken in the hands of the few survivors who took it upon themselves to rebuild, to survive and to keep each other going. A new social structure rose among the ruins and the shared pain.
An old llama man by the name of Veceron who had lost his family in the tragedy took special care of Warcaya, and made him promise to do anything in his power to keep the memories of their city and their people alive, a promise that has fueled his life to this day.
