Behemil
This article is a Work in Progress and will be finished soon™
The societarians' answer to this question is that of the Pact of the Dhalmanite Alzufhars, the first time in history where a civilisation of societarians made a pact with a species so strong and intermingled that would turn two individuals into one force, by matter of riding on one another or becoming two parts of one machine. Though nowadays every societarian civilisation has its own pact with the local alzufhars and some have even managed to make pacts with riding privileges with bicarnivalers and hierdes, none are as complex and unique as that of the Dhalmanite, which has evolved and solidified from its already unique starts, set by an alzufhar of now legendary status called Behemil.
Physical Aspect
Some details about Behemil's looks are preserved through time in song, engraved in plaques and in writing, though historians question the veracity and accuracy of most.It is generally agreed upon that he was a very sturdy and strong male. Most depictions through history show his horns to curve downwards and out and his snout to be white, though the latter is considered to have been unlikely at the time, as white-snouted alzufhar are though to be a more recent development of domestication, and are not common in non-selectively-breed populations.
History and The Pact
Little is known of the life of Behemil before the pact. He was well established as the leader of his herd, which legends claim to have been formed mostly by his mates and descendants, a likely exaggeration. The few surviving accounts of the time suggest that societarians and tetsus used to hunt the alzufhar in large numbers, and an arrangement had been sought with one of the two species for quite some time already.Behemil is said to have braved approaching a Dhalmanite settlement with his herd flanking him, and signalled for pact negotiations, for which the leader of the town was brought upon him. Behemil continued his life as the main ambassador of the Dhalmanite alzufhars in luxury. He is said to have sired hundreds of foals, starting lines that are highly sought after in the island even nowadays, though confirming their legitimacy is of course all but impossible.
He is recorded to have died at the estimated old age of 54 years.
Legacy
Behemil is still considered a national treasure of the Republic of Dhalmain and the biggest cause of the jump forwards in technology and development that turned Dhalmain into a world power at the time.He was prominently depicted in their flag up until after the High Rust, when the pressure of the societal crisis had them switching from centring in their pride as the best breeders of domestic creatures to showing their prowess as the strongest standing navy. Nowadays, every city and most towns feature a stone plaque on their central plaza documenting the details of the pact, with the biggest and most elaborate one in the City of Endure, which includes a monument of Behemil crowning it.
