Noum, Stone Gnomes
The size of human children they scurry about with manic focus their brightly colored caps bobbing along as they seem intent to do all manner of crafts and arts from working on elaborate clockwork devices, crafting delicate jewelry and tending to gorgeous fey gardens. Stranger still is they seem to need few if any tools to work with earth or stone as if they are one with the element it shifts and moves as they direct. As the first light of dawn touches down upon the land where they work there is a sudden urgency to finish their tasks and flee into hallow trees and underground caves and you soon see why. Those caught in the suns ray freeze as their bodies are turned to stone as if a statue painted in the bright colors of the creatures skin and cloths and frozen in the action they were engaged in. These creatures, the Noum the ancestors of Gnomes, Red Caps, Blue Caps and Spriggan a race who franticly and manically work for their fey masters only to become colorful cute statues when they dawn breaks and will adorn their fey lords gardens and homes until the setting sun wakens them only to be set to work once more. The ones who fled to the darkness remain there out of sight no doubt still working for their masters though it is to wonder if it was not for this stone slumber would the Noum ever be able to rest?
