Ljoss Alflar, Light Elves

The vampire screamed in raw agony, the ray of golden light was a lance that caused her flesh to recoil and her power to waiver. The elves drew their bows preparing a second volly of their arrows that burst in shafts of burning sunlight. They were few but they stood resolute against the shadowy armies conjured by the vampiric hags black magic. They were pale as snow their hair the very red gold definition of what we call Alf Gold in the north and their eyes hard and focused held the shining beauty of diamonds. I am a brave shieldmaiden but even I trembled where these elves had stood firm. I will never mock an elf for their frailty again. -Gunnahil Runnadottir Vetern of the Battle Against the Vampric Hag Hervata Foulblood.   The Childern of Two Lovers   We call ourselves Alflar but this is not entirely true as a statement, we are the childern of the Te'ra Alflar and the Borda Elsa and our tale starts long ago after the Demon Mirrors were shattered and the Swart Alflar driven below. Our people knew of a great tunnel in the northren lands that lead directly into the realms below and it was agreed upon that some of both tribes take the sacred duty fortifiying and protecting the great caverns from allowing the evils below to spill upon the surface. We found a great forest plateau above the Great Caverns or as we called them the Ever Night Gates. So sworn to defend the light from the dark we called ourselves the Sun Sworn and we built the fortifications that still stand in the vast cavern maw of the Night Gates.   The curse of the thousand year winter forced us into isolation as it did nearly all of the elves, it cut us off from our kin and taught us to self sufficency and Borda Elsa and Te'ra Alflar found love in each others arms. We stand now as the youngest of the branches of the elven tree, some among our cousins do not regard us as a true branch of the elven family but we are distinct, a people our own shapped by the lands and loves that have forged us. We are now the Ljoss Alflar or Elsa, the elves of the Light. Sworn ever to protect the world from darkness and the evils that dwell with in we have turned our gazes not just to the deep earth but the void between the stars, the ocean depths and the planes of the great beyond. We will ever bare the light of hope, reason and freedom, we will bring bright burning truth upon those who work evil in the darkness and we stand to the last as a bulwark against those who thrive in the embrace of wickedness!

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Common Custom   Hope is for all, not just some   For the Ljoss Alflar hope is a very important custom and element of their veneration of the light however it also contentious or has become so since they discovered the Dokk Alflar and their exodus to the surface. A schism occurred among their people with some wanting to aid the Dokk Alflar, some wanting to leave to their own devices and others seeing them as no better then the Swart Alflar. It was a group of Ljoss Alflar acting in secret who helped the Dokk Alflar navigate the Night Gates and make their way to the Myrk Wood. Those responsible for aiding the Dokk Alflar remain anonymous as some have attempted to accuse them of treason for aiding their ancestral enemy. To this day the Ljoss Alflar have not fully recovered or found a sense of unity regarding the subject of can Dokk Alfalr and other beings once sworn to darkness ever change, do they deserve the gift of hope? can they even understand it? While the majority of Ljoss Alflar either embrace the Dokk Alflar warily as kin and even rejoice in their earned freedom there are those who see them as destined to fall or else still enemies and these dangerous extremists pose more and more of a threat as they unknowing slide into the very darkness they claim to oppose.
