Ardor Stone
Ardor Stone, the magically strengthened stone, is the result of the widespread practice and art form used to enhance the properties of stone. This process is known as giving the stone "Ardor," and it has become particularly prevalent in regions where hard metals are scarce. Skilled crafters can achieve Ardor Stone creation through spellcasting or by applying specific admixtures to the stone, resulting in a distinct transformation. In many regions where metalurgy is common place the creation of Ardor stone has often been religated to engineering and building purposes even becoming a borderline lost art or else religated to be a rustic or specialized sort of magical craft.
Traits of Ardor Stone
Appearance: Once Ardor Stone has been created, it takes on a brighter hue and its edges glisten, distinguishing it from mundane flint, greenstone, or other base stone. Otherwise, it can be challenging to differentiate Ardor Stone from regular stone materials.
Enhanced Durability: Ardor Stone is signifigantly less prone to chipping, shattering or breaking then mundane stone having traits not unlike metal.
Cost: Ardor Stone has fallen out of favor where harder metals are available in part because it costs four times as much as normal stone and the process to create Ardor Stone takes two to three times longer then then working with normal stone. Elves, Dwarves and Gnomes still often work with Ardor Stone (mostly for building and Engineering) but many human cultures are seeing Ardor Stone become a forgotten art.
Overall, Ardor Stone provides a practical solution in regions where access to hard metals is limited. Its magical strengthening properties make it a valuable resource, enabling the creation of effective stone weapons and armor without compromising their sturdiness or durability.
