Narkishi
The Narkishi are a tribal people, most of whom live in the jungles and wetlands. They frequently travel. They do have several cities for those of their number who enjoy a more stationary life, but even most of those only stay for a few years before taking time to wander before returning or deciding to stay elsewhere.
Culture
Shared customary codes and values
The Narkishi value age and experience in their leaders. They understand that leadership is a burden to carry, however, and don't expect any one person to carry that burden for long.
Common Etiquette rules
When greeting another person, a Narkishi will place one hand over their heart and bow their head respectfully. The person they are greeting is expected to do the same.
Common Dress code
As their native habitat is frequently rainy with high temperatures, the Danlae do not wear a lot of clothing. Both males and females wear a pair of shorts or a loin cloth. Additionally, females will wear a halter or top of some sort. Between the rainy weather, wading through watery areas, and the need to swim from time to time, large amounts of clothing are considered a nuisance and sometimes a hazard.
Narkishi love wearing bright colors, but the older an outfit is, the more the color fades from it. Narkishi often collect items as they travel, so some carry a woven basket, a bag, or wear a loose outer vest with pockets. They do not use footwear.
Jewelry, metal jewelry especially, is seen as a sign of wealth among the Narkishi. Both males and females will wear circlets, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and anklets. Wealthy Narkishi wear bright colors and are laden down with metal jewelry.
Narkishi visiting other regions will wear clothing as needed to protect them from the local environment.
Art & Architecture
The SkyLands and SkyBridges of Narkish are just as rainy as the surrounding lands. Narkishi have taken advantage of this to make long shallow pools for raising some types of fish and shellfish. In other areas, they create bogs to grow cranberries and other special local crops.
Most buildings are made of wood, often raised on posts to lift the floors from the ground around them.
Weaving baskets and other objects is an art form in this region. To make these takes the knowledge of which plants work best for the project and the skill to transform it into something of use and beauty.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Eating in large, multi-family or neighborhood groups is common. Strangers are welcome at these communal meals.
Narkishi enjoy music. Their traditional music involves a variety of flutes as well as percussion. They don't use skin-covered drums, but rather solid pieces that make clacking noises and scritching sounds.
Common Taboos
Drinking alcohol alone is considered a sign of madness.
Jewelry is placed in a bag or basket during a funeral as a show that all the dead are equal.
