First People

Long ago, the First People came to Suveon. Some say they arrived here in silvery ships that sailed through the black waters of the heavens, stars coming to alight upon the land. Some say that they strode across bridges of bright swirling energy as though they were solid ground. Some believe they drifted down from the clouds on a song so sweet that Suveon blossomed into the first spring with flowers everywhere, but some people will believe anything.   Regardless of how they got here, at some point the ships stopped sailing, the bridges faded, or the song ended and the First People could no longer come and go at will. And, though they loved Suveon, they mourned their loss of freedom because they knew that Suveon, despite its beauty and wonder, would never be a place where they could prosper.   How much time passed, we’ll never know, for the First People seemed to live as long as the stars, but one day they worked together with a new purpose: to create people for Suveon. How did they do it? No one knows. We probably won’t ever know, but we do know that they gave some of themselves to create the other peoples for we look a bit like them. The peoples prospered under the guidance of the First People for three hundred years, birthing generations, learning skills and arts, and dying knowing that their kind would live on through their children.   The peoples of Suveon got so busy with the living and the learning and the doing of life that it was some time before they realized that the First People didn’t seem to be around anymore. Were they hidden somewhere? Had they left Suveon? Sometimes people search for them, but if they found the First People, they aren’t saying.
