Suranthian Decimal Classification System (SDCS)
The Suranthian Decimal Classification System (SDCS) is used in the Great Library of Dragons to categorize the vast knowledge collected by the Dragon Bornes. Inspired by numeric logic and shaped by ancient draconic philosophy, the SDCS is designed for clarity, compression, and magical indexing.
Each work is assigned a unique six-part code:
[Domain].[Subdomain].[ChronoCode]-[RegionCode].[AuthorID]#[Volume]
Example:
400.32.1-NE.TAZ#03
This example breaks down as:
Domain 400 (History)
Subdomain 32 (Wars)
ChronoCode 1 (First Age)
RegionCode NE (Northeastern Suranth)
AuthorID TAZ (Tazarith, Dragon Borne)
Volume #3

Usage in the World
Scholar-monks of the Dragon Borne Historical Order memorize these codes during training.
Magical tomes often contain triple encryption: SDCS code, sigil runes, and binding glyphs.
Dragon Bornes' journals are layered: each journal has an SDCS code, and major entries include nested microcodes for scholar indexing.
Notes from future scholars may include annotations like:
"see Red Book of Blossoms #2.44" or
"Cross-ref. 300.80.2-SW.VEN#05, pg 212."
Possible Expansions
Secret sigil-based classification for draconic-only records
Index crystals that let scholars ‘query’ the Great Library
Color-coded glyphs on book spines for easier visual sorting
Fold-out annotation sheets in long-form scrolls
Ritual shelves only accessible by those who pass magical wards
