Vanessa Tito moved from Egypt to New York when she was ten years old. Her mother had gotten a job as Curator that was too good to pass up. So they arrived knowing life would be better for them thanks to their new opportunities, but didn't expect the political and social issues they'd have to deal with simply for having an accent.

Vanessa moved to Long Beach when she was 18, to go to college somewhere that wasn't freezing half of the time. She quickly made friends, and enjoyed everything the city had to offer. But she hit her stride when joined an e-sports team and became a star player. After winning one of their matches, her friends and her teammates were walking to a nearby restaurant to celebrate. Walking across the street a car ran a red light and headed for one of her friends, she ran to push them out of the way but couldn't move herself in time.

She woke up in an old room that looked ancient ruins, but they were brand new. It had a small circular pool in the middle, and when she peered inside she saw a cat in the water, looking back at her. Then she heard a small voice whisper "Worthy" and the cat jumped out of the water at her. She then woke up in the hospital, and healed rapidly over the next few days. After speaking with her family she found out her mothers line from the time of ancient Egypt, were the sole owners of the Mantle of the Cat. Which gave them catlike abilities if they displayed the willingness to put their life on the life for others. But it also would sometimes put them into a savage feral state if they like they felt backed into a corner.

Astonished at the revelation, she was speechless but was excited more excited at the cosplay capabilities than anything else. It wasn't until she saved someone from committing suicide that she decided she should try out being a hero.
