Sidestep

Chris always loved the superheroes of old, the stories of triumph, the life and death moments and the big battles for the fate of the world. He was their biggest fan, even though most were already gone or retired at that point. But he loved none more than Quickie Slick, to him Slick was the epitome of cool. He wanted to meet him so badly he found a way to travel back in time to be his side kick.

When he arrived in 2015, he found Quickie and immediately befriended him; but never really told him the truth about where he was from. They fought villains together and he made lots of friends in the community, even joining the Dream Teens for a time. It was the happiest time of his life and he couldn't imagine going back home.

The reason he thought Quickie was so cool was because of a family story passed down about him. Sidestep's family won a tour with Quickie, and one of the stops was at a museum. Sidestep only really payed attention to the cool parts of the story, the parts about Quickie beating up bad guys after almost being taken out. So when he realized this was the moment he family first met the hero he was ecstatic, and came along to see them. While his family walked around the museum with Quickie, they stopped for a detour in another room. Quickie waited down the hall for them, while doing so Sidestep began confessing his own history and why he sought him out to be his sidekick. His family were being ambushed by a group who were trying to take out Quickie while they were talking. He told him this was the day he saved his family, and tearfully thanked him for being the best person he ever met in his life.

Quickie was shocked and didn't expect the revelation, he didn't expect the surprise attack either. The group had finished tying up Sidestep's family and were planning to kill Slick. They were almost successful, Slick never noticed the arrows coming at his back but Sidestep did. He quickly jumped in front of them and took the shots, and after a few parting words and thank you's, passed away. Slick viciously avenged him, fighting the group all across the museum. Which became the inspiration for the families devotion.

Chris became a hero to be the sidekick of the savior of his family.
