From the time he was born he was raised to join the military, both parents came from military families and joined themselves. Initially he wanted to be artist but his family only entrenched themselves further in getting him to continue the tradition. He fought it as long as he could, almost securing an art scholarship before his parents shipped him to military school.

He was actually a good soldier, it came natural to him. Not like his sculpting did but it was easy enough. He was sent off to a mission in Eastern Europe that went horribly wrong. He got kidnapped by an unknown group, who after failed brainwashing, experimented on him. Experimentation that closer to torture, they were melting his skin until it latched on to metal parts. Fusing his skin with junk from old cars and construction equipment. It kicked his Nola Gene into overdrive, which helped him escape after killing as much people as he could.

The experimenting did have an effect on his mind though, he came back colder and less friendly before. He fully believed in the mission of the armed forces, and believed the rest of the world was a dangerous shit-hole that needed saving. The military took advantage of this, instead of getting him help to deal with the problem, they encouraged it. The anger and the powers created a potent believer and fighter within their ranks. Delivering him to whims of Red Snapper, who uses Devon's powers to the best of his ability.

When he's not working directly for the government, he's taking freelance jobs in any nation except America. Hoping his work will further destabilize those countries in the hope that it will benefit America somehow.
