- Origin: When swimming on a beach as a kid, he went to far and got swept out further to the sea. He was attacked by a shark but his power kicked in saving him. He was protected but was to scared to move sinking further down. He was found an hour later by divers.

Personal history
Kasim has never really gotten over his fear of the water. He was attacked by a shark which activated his powers. But while he was stuck in his force field, not even knowing how to use his powers. He was petrified with fear, staring into the jaws of death, rows of teeth squeezing to get through his shield. Sinking further into the ocean, but the only abyss he noticed was the one of the animal trying to swallow him. When the shark finally let go he just slowly floated to the bottom. Unmoving and in shock, a boy in a yellow sphere at the bottom of the sea. He didn't say anything when the divers found him, he was just...there.
After Kasim found his rhythm again and got over that situation, he never went back to any body of water that wasn't a pool or a bathtub. But he did master his powers that protected him. When he made it to college, that incident made him a prime candidate for the Tenth. He became an excellent student and an even better protector. His powers becoming very useful in a time where active shooters pop up randomly. But he always got nervous around bodies of water, which affected his ability. But he tries to break through that to become a more dependable member of his team.
