Lycanthropy
Lycanthropes are not all the same. As there are multiple origins for the ones known as Werewolves. They come from different time periods and locations, their goals and drives also vary which brings them into conflict with one another. Their are 5 major groups of which the werewolves belong to. The Statuary, Clan Vol, Hellhounds, Curse Bound, and the Duvoh.
- The Statuary wolves share their blood with Lycaon, who is thought to be the first werewolf. These are were the typical werewolf legends come from, they transform at full moons and lose control. But with enough time they can regain mastery over themselves. They can also steal "recruits" from every other group except the Curse Bound, if they can reach the recruit shortly after their scratched or bitten. They've been at war with Clan Vol for a very long time because of this.
- Clan Vol are the remnants of the Volsung wolves. Volsungs were who turn into giant ravenous wolves for ten days after wearing the wolf pets of people that they've turned into beasts. When in wolf form whoever survives their bite or scratch permanently turns into an out of control werewolf.
- Hellhounds come from the time of Gilgamesh. A shepherd who loved the goddess Ishtar, was turned into a wolf after she became bored of him. The shepherds hounds who were trained to kill wolves attacked and killed the shepherd. The blood from the shepherd gave his hounds the ability to change into a humanoid shape when they wanted. In their humanoid form they have the ability to speak, but they look more like hounds than wolves. When not transformed they look just like any other dogs. They hunt and kill all werewolves they come across.
- The Curse Bound come from the Niciros curse, they aren't willingly participating and they can't turn anyone. They have either offended some god or the sanctity of some holy place and were turned into violent beasts. They cannot change forms at will, but it can happen randomly, as this is also a punishment for them. They also have no control over themselves in werewolf form.
- The Duvoh are the Rougarou, french werewolves who came to Louisiana and turned people. Infecting mostly the creole population, the voodoo witches here also learned how to turn people into werewolves themselves. Often imbedding the curse on catholics to attack other catholics, but that has fallen out of practice. They for some reason can't count past 12 and prefer to stay in the swamplands, but they can shape shift at will and retain their minds at all times.
Transmission & Vectors
Depending on the type of werewolf you have to be either bitten or scratched and survive the encounter, then you will slowly turn into a wolf.
