Personal history

Rosa grew up in a magically adept family. Her african ancestors escaped from the clutches of slavery in America with magic, and when they mixed with the local Mexican population, those ancestors knew magic too. So her family practiced magics practiced in both Africa and Mexico, and used it to great advantage.

They took up the role of protectors in their area, they also became spiritual advisers and counsel for most people. Fell spirits, monsters, revenants, and gangs, whatever was plaguing the town they would have a hand in fixing. But whenever things got good suddenly the people would forget as they always do, until the next terror comes along. During one of those times Rosa's family started experiencing deaths at a high rate. Some violent, and some just strange, they knew it was some kind of curse or magic, they just couldn't figure who did it.

Rosa wasn't supposed to become one of the protectors until later in life, even though she was extremely talented. She wanted to live a somewhat normal life before she had to take up responsibility. But that chance went out the door when her grandfather died, and she became determined to figure who was behind it. First her family broke the curse, then Rosa tracked the ones responsible to an ancient ruin. A cult was trying to raise an old god from slumber, and they knew Rosa's family would get in the way. So Rosa and her family dismantled them, with Rosa's ability eclipsing anything her family could do. She destroyed them, and threw the rest to an empty dimension. She then left her town to continue fighting mysterious things wherever she could. Taking on the name Lady Oaxaca, to keep her people close with her.
