- Stereotypical - His powers are influenced by other peoples perception of him. For good or ill, if someone stereotypes him in some way. He body responds and adjusts to this perception. If someone thinks he's good at basketball, he will be. If someone thinks dumb as a rock he will be. So he makes sure to always give people the right impression when he meets them to ensure he has positive abilities.

Personal history
When Ossie was declared a powered person, it was actually 3 years before they figured out what activated his powers. It always seemed so random, one day he had no power, the next he had super strength, the next he jumped like Jordan, and after that couldn't read. The staff found no correlation with anything he did, but they did recognize a pattern based on who was running the test that day. It did force the company to reevaluate some of the employees, but at least it helped figure what was the underlying cause.
Having powers was cool and all, but the unpredictability of this kind of power was infuriating. Not knowing if he's going to crush someones hand when he shakes it, depending on what they think of him isn't easy getting used to. So he started working on two things to help him get by. First he made sure he was intelligent and strong even when powerless, second he learned how to tailor people's expectations to his advantage.
He wore tight fitting shirts to show off his muscles, wore glasses and conveniently carried around a small book about physics. This usually gave him him enough powers to not worry about being in danger. He felt comfortable just going through life enjoying himself, but when he got that mysterious invite to join the Talented Tenth. He thought "eh, why not".

Mental Trauma
At one point before he changed his name, Oz went by the name Stereotype. It wasn't a very long time, but it was enough for Buckbreaker to figure out how his powers work. Buckbreaker kidnapped him and tortured him in ways that broke him. Oz was rescued but he was never the same. He tried to fight alongside the Talented Tenth but he couldn't muster up the will anymore. He retired from heroics shortly after, and unfortunately tried to commit suicide. He survived due to his friends from the the Tenth saving him.
