Personal history
Born in American Samoa, life on the island made Malosi feel cut off from the world. He loved his home and his people but he wanted to see what the rest of the world was like. While bored on the internet one day, a navy recruitment ad popped up on his screen. He figured it would probably be his best chance to see the world for free, so despite his families pleas he joined at 18.
He didn't intend to join the navy seals, but his skills during training where to good for them to let him go elsewhere. So he became an elite fighter in the unit. He didn't really like all the things he ended up doing, but he felt at least he was keeping someone safe somewhere. He became best friends with another guy in his unit named Anthony. The two ended up being a very effective duo and had each others backs.
A unlucky stop forced them into a bloody firefight, with civilians caught in the crossfire. Malosi and Anthony argued about whether to save the civilians or get back to safety before both getting shot down. They were both nearly dead when a spirit who was feasting upon on the carnage, noticed them. The fury of one group of bystanders cursing the Americans to death and others praying for their survival intrigued it. So the spirit took the curses and prayers, with all the hatred and hope attached to it, and turned it into a source of power. A balance for the two soldiers, and gave it to the them both.
Malosi later woke up in a hospital in the U.S. With all his senses and natural abilities enhanced, and his skin now bulletproof. He was quickly signed on to become one of their boots.
