Personal history
Debra was raised amongst a wide variety of individuals, hailing from all different creeds and colors. The environment she grew up in was incredibly open and loving, but marred with sadness. Her parents were always involved in fighting oppression, and oppression usually comes with loss. So every now and then, she'd have to permanently say goodbye to someone she saw as an aunt or uncle. It deeply wounded her, and forced her to fervently take up their causes.
So as she got older and engaged more with social causes. Her posts online got her hired by companies to further her work. Her advocacy was met with disdain, primarily online but the protests she attended became extremely physical. As to show solidarity and spend some time together, one of her old family friends came with her to a protest. She became famous online and became a target, which caused her family friend to be beaten senseless.
She nearly gave up after that, afraid to cause any more harm. But the company that hired her fueled the fire, telling her how much more people were hurt by her absence. Convincing her that she was needed to take drastic action for others to be safe, in her grief she took this to heart. When she decided to put on a mask, she thought it was her choice. But the company that hired had a 15 page psych profile on her that said otherwise. She may have been tricked to become Ally, but she was in to deep to stop now.
