Legend of the Oldest Domala
Domala Pastries are a staple for any Vielene/Valgrozna household. With them appearing on nearly every table at least once a day, it's not surprising that there are a few stories about this particular food item.
Perhaps it's a bit silly, but one of the stories that gets passed around between children from that particular cultural background involves the domala, and how old it can get.
It's important to note that the average domala is made of ingredients that don't last terribly long. They go moldy or they get stale very quickly due to the usual array of fresh ingredients. The cheese involved also gets kind of nasty after a fairly short amount of time.
So there's a story about how a domala managed to survive well past the usual expiration date. How it did this is a mystery since no one in the story ever taste tests to find out if it even works.
The standard reasoning for the pastry surviving is that it was exposed to something that gives it superpowers. Except that it's a food. The story is very clear in that eating the pastry will not give the eater superpowers, only that the food itself has powers of some kind. Exactly what is unclear. It's generally understood that if a food had superpowers it would generally be used to keep it from being eaten.
The most common reasoning is that it's somehow concealing itself from the people who might want to eat it. Another possible reason is that it makes itself indigestible or un-biteable. It's also disease proof and kills mold. In theory.
A/n: Ruby tried for years to actually make an indestructible pastry, and has yet to succeed. At least for now, the world remains safe from vengeful foodstuff.
