Rosson House
The Rosson House is one of Phoenix’s architectural wonders and one of the oldest surviving houses in the city. Built in 1895 for the influential Rosson family, the house has withstood the test of time, having been occupied by multiple owners and renters before being bought by the city of Phoenix in 1974. The city turned the house into a museum, which is now part of Heritage Square, a living memoir of the city’s Victorian past. To this day, the Rosson House is one of the most famous historic homes in the city. The house has reportedly been haunted since the 1980s, when the museum caretaker was shot dead on the house grounds.
Prior to 1980, the Rosson House had a rather plain history. It was built by Dr. Roland Rosson in 1895 and he & his family lived there until their eventual move to LA in 1897. Afterward, the Rosson house had numerous tenants before its eventual purchase by the city in 1974. It's only after [A respectfully unnamed] caretaker was shot while on duty at the museum did the house attain its now haunted status. The caretaker is fabled to regularly lock and unlock doors around the house as well as appear as a shadowy figure on the narrow stairways inside the house. He is not described as malicious, rather just a mischievous spirit.
