Wreck

Wreck is the capitol city of the Laufey Alliance of Respectable Pirates.

History

Wreck existed long before the establishment of the Alliance. Originally it was at the key junction of a shipping lane that had numerous treacherous paths. Pirates wandered the waterways and made use of the narrow and shallow outcroppings when they themselves were not crashed upon the rocks.

Overtime the amount of wrecks washing up into the area began to build. Some small scavengers and survivors of shipwrecks started to live among the debris gathering what flotsam and jetsam accrues there.

The area became hotly contested territory over time until it came under control by Captain Jordan Flint. Little is known about Flint, some pirates claim they were masculine and others that they were feminine, but whatever the situation they become a feared pirate. They were also quite cunning and forward thinking. They knew that eventually larger navies would eventually push them out of their waters and sink them.

They ended up inviting as many of the pirate captains in the seas that they could get ahold of and explained a plan to form an alliance. Many laughed at the idea and a few were even outright hostile toward it. A few even decided they would try to take out their rivals at the assembly of notable captains.

Flint, of course, had been ready for such betrayal and their archers made quick work of the would be murderers. They took control of the ships those captains had crewed, broke down the ships, and made them the foundation of what would later become the central hub of Wreck.

it took some after before the rest of the pirates in the area began to see the benefit of a united force, but eventually the city slowly came to be before expanding and claiming territory all along the Laufey Archipelago.

Structure

Wreck is primarily built upon sailing vessels among the rocks and small islands within the karst ridden isles of the Laufey Archipelago. It has been built up and overtop of older sections of ship which eventually sunk too low. In the modern day, the layers of shipwrecks beneath the city act as a warren of treacherous tunnels and waterways that only the most foolhardy underwater dweller might explore. Especially given the rumours of dangerous critters beneath the city.

Some measure of real construction does exist here and there throughout the city. Some stone buildings upon the land. For the most part, however, the city is mostly wood and metal. Key points exist where water towers can be opened in case of fire amid the walkways and pathways of the multilayered city.
