Squidshark

The squidshark is an odd amalgamation of shark and squid that is generally seen as a warning sign for the presence of a jormundgandr.

Overview

Squidsharks possess the forward body of a shark for the most part while their backward half of the body splints into various tentacles that propels it through the water as well as can be used to grapple onto potential food sources. The tentacles are also generally used to attach themselves to their favourite partner within the oceans; the jormundgandr dragon.

They still possess the razor sharp rows of teeth that a shark possesses, though their body is a bit more flexible than a regular shark. With their tentacles they can grow upward to about 5 m (16', 5") in length.

The squidshark is quite fond of following either in the wake of the great serpent or attaching itself to the scaly hide. Either way they are often able to eat quite well. Whether from the remains of creatures the jormundgandr doesn't devour or from the remains left upon its hide. The squidshark is also quite fond of eating the barnacles and various parasites that attempt to attach themselves to the serpent. It is likely the only reason the great beast tolerates them though it is very likely that it would eat one of the squidsharks upon it if it ever desired to. Still most (that have been observed at a distance) seem to tolerate the presence of the squidshark in whatever symbiotic capacity the two different species have found partner ship with.

The presence of squidsharks in the water is often a sign for sailors to get as quickly away from the area as possible though it is often too late.
