Moon Band

A moon band is an enchanted bracelet developed in Ganis during the 9th century to control an outbreak of lycanthropy in the region.

Function

The intent behind the design of the moon band is to help a person afflicted with lycanthropy to resist the transformation process during a full moon or to at least help a transformed lycanthrope to resist an uncontrolled rage that occurs after the transformation. While a lycanthrope with a moon band may not be fully aware of their situation, their aggression is toned down significantly.

Material

The moon band is constructed as a bracelet (or cuff) to go around the wrist or arm. The outer metal of the band is constructed of an iron and silver alloy assisting with resistant to corrosion and using the lycanthropes natural weakness to silver. The interior of the band is lined with a layer of leather to prevent the loop from merely burning the wearer.

The band, once constructed, is further enchanted with various abjurative wards and magic to make the band function.

Effectiveness

The moon band has proven quite effective against those afflicted with lycanthropy to the point that the afflicted can live relatively unchanged lives amid the population of Ganis. It has had the side effect of increased beastkin population in the region, but there are far fewer incidents of werecreatures running wild and slaughtering entire villages.

There are some concerns regarding long term usage in some individuals who seem to have developed some measure of resistance to the moon band's effects. Though study is still underway on the veracity of such claims.
