Dragon blood
Dragon blood is, as one would surmise by the name, the blood of dragons. While there are many different species of dragon it is their blood that connects them all. From the winged drake, to the jormundgandr, to the kobold, to the basilisk all share remarkably similar blood. While this fact may seem obvious to the layperson it is of rather unique significance. Even people of the same species may not have compatible blood and require a specific blood type. It becomes even more complicated when mixed ancestries are considered. All dragon blood, however, is interchangeable. One could take the blood of a drakehound and transfuse it with the blood of a glass-scaled thresher without any issue.
History & Usage
Historical usage of dragon blood has been wide and varied. From aphrodisiacs, to use in occultist rituals, to varnish, to soap. Dragon body parts, particularly dragon blood, have always been used as an ingredient in something. At the height of the draconic population during the Tyrant's War there were many attempts to capitalize on dragon anatomy to turn the tide of the war. Though there hasn't been any proven useful effects of the blood, it is nonetheless still prized. There is a thriving market for useful remedies and antidotes.
Unique Properties
Dragon blood is very warm within and out of the dragon's body. Even the arctic dwelling Marble-scaled Hunter runs blood at a temperature of around 75 degrees Celsius (167 Fahrenheit). Despite this, the marble-scaled hunter retains an ability to exist within cold environs without melting surrounding ice unless it wishes to which allows it to burrow through snow and nice with ease. Outside of the body dragon blood doesn't coagulate as quickly as the blood of a human or gnome. It remains as warm as within the body for up to three weeks. It is incredibly rich in magiotrophic energy. It also smells strongly of iron and cinnamon, oddly enough. The longer the blood is without of the body or the higher the concentration of blood in an area, the stronger the scent of cinnamon becomes.
