New Reagor City
Sena has been a Railroader for ten years, and it was the first time this opportunity arose. The very reason why she chose such a dangerous occupation, why she endured the long travels, the killings and the loss of loved ones laid before her. The next fret departing was for New Reagor, the domed city. It would be her last trip. Once in the capital she would get off her train, never to board one again. The city had enough talented people for her crew to find a new communication officer, she was sure. Her next stop would be the life she had always dreamed of.
After the solar eruptions that made the surface of Earth unsuitable to life, all the surviving communities retreated underground, where they would have better odds of survival. All but one. The place that would become the capital of the reformed government was not one to play by the rules. Instead of digging, the people of New Reagor built a glass dome around their city, so thick even a train going at full speed would not be able to break it, and built in a way that prevented the deadly radiation from ever threatening the inhabitants.
Among the many shelters, New Reagor is like a myth. Here, life is almost like before, people have regular job, the administration is strong and everyone eats their fill. A dream of the old world, of normalcy and life, rather than survival. However, one does not simply get into New Reagor. The only people allowed to leave their shelters are either exiles doomed to die or Railroaders, bound to the rails by their duty and rarely going all the way to the capital. For most, living in New Reagor City is a pipe dream, one that sustains barely enough hope for them to go on with their lives.
