Hillfort
As the name suggest this is a fort built on top of a hill. And not just any ordinary fort but one of the key startegic pieces in the defense of the empire. It had to deal with many an army and twice as many of sieges and it has never been defeated in battle - it was always able to stand its ground (or hill if you want to take things literally) and it is considered to be the biggest marvel of contemporary architecture.
Curiously, it had to be rebuilt many times over, because every two hundred years, give or take, a giant fire goes trough the entire complex and levels most of it to the ground. Mostly those structures that are made of wood, which means a lot of the utility buildings and furniture, draw bridges and stair cases and other amenities that are not commonly made out of stone for one reason or another.
The tales of the fires are many, one slightly more unbelievable than the next and yet they all took place as the ashes of its destruction proves. Those tales are repeated as cautionary tales to all servants and soldiers stationed there so they may never be repeated again - and yet, everyone is l gazing at the calendars with ever growing fear, what will catch a spark this time.
The other curiosity of Hillfort is the fact that it is commonly used as a house prison for nobles that cannot be simply dealt with the good old fashion execution way. One of the most prominent prisoners is the current emperor himself, who spent half of his childhood surrounded by these walls, when his father, a prince, offended the previous ruler and was forced to relocate here along with his entire family.
Thank you for reading my world!
I used Summer Camp this year to generate new ideas that I can explore and play around with in the months to come. All of my articles are first drafts, little sketches that need further development.
