Golden Widowhood

It is absolutely common for men to have many wives and concubines to make sure their family line continues. But once a wife loses her husband it is almost unthinkable for her to marry again, at least from social standpoint. A woman's position is dictated by the fmaily that they belong to and marriage is pretty much the only way how a woman might move into a better social class, since with marriage her identity shifts from her original family to a new one.   With the increasings military campaigns and therefore also the eincreas in deaths in young prospective soldiers and commanders of many different ranks, there was a significant increase in the number of young widows that lost their spouse in their early twenties and surprisingly found themselves at the head of the family, as the heir was usually just a child and too young to actually comprehend what is going on.   Golden widowhood is a trend on the rise of young women who guide their new families that they married into with firm grasp after their husbands death and many of them are actually doing a great job at it. There are more women in commerce, administrative and military positions as well. Some do take up arms after their husbands and defend military posts with great success. Many people started changing their opinion on the women's role in society simply because widows were seen as people who should fully devote themselves to their deceased spouse which has given them unprecedented strength and prestige and for the first time ever gave space to women to exercise their skills to the benefit of many.   Because of this new group of capable widows many families now decide to educate their daughters almost as well as their sons, just in the case of them ending up in a similar situation where knowledge can safe their new family from ruins.

Thank you for reading my world!

I used Summer Camp this year to generate new ideas that I can explore and play around with in the months to come. All of my articles are first drafts, little sketches that need further development.
