Aasimar
Aasimar are a humanoid species marked by divinity somewhere in their bloodline. Similar to tieflings, aasimar may be the direct product of a divine being, or they may be reflective of some touch of divinity many generations back. Just as tieflings are often regarded with mistrust by the common folk of Faerûn due to the belief that there must be some inherent evil in them, aasimar are widely regarded as innately more predispositioned to goodness than other creatures. While this can be a boon in some circumstances, the celestial touch aasimar carry also puts them in danger; those allied with dark forces often hunt aasimar, whether to kill them, enslave them, or otherwise degrade them.
Though the standard conception of aasimar is that of the pale or golden-skinned beautiful youth with shining golden or white hair and pupil-less white, gray, or golden eyes, aasimar can have all manner of skin colour — even green, in some cases. Some aasimar may even have scales, or feathers mixed in with their hair, depending on their celestial heritage. Another lesser known fact about aasimar is that nearly all of them grow up in contact with some manner of celestial patron, most typically a deva. The nature of the relationship between aasimar and patron varies, but is most often characterized by visions meant to guide the aasimar towards their destiny and aiding the greater good.
Aasimar are relatively rare across Faerûn, though an unusually high number of them can be found in Mulhorand, between the Alamber Sea and the Plains of Purple Dust in eastern Faerûn. Given the persecution many aasimar face from the forces of darkness and their ability to pass as human, the true number of aasimar in Faerûn will likely never be known.
