Margarite LaPointe
Summary
Margarite is the matriarch and leader of the LaPointe House. Margarite is a survivor. She cut her teeth as a young operator in the Dobby Affair, and the violence and chaos she saw there as a young woman shaped her understanding of the world. For many years, she and her husband Jacques built the business and swam the rough seas of Ecumene, clawing the LaPointe family to the top through guile and boldness. Jacques died suddenly 16 years ago, but no one in the LaPointe House (including her) even considered the possibility of her stepping down. Margarite is now the most powerful and feared person on the French side of Ecumene, and leads her House with an iron fist.Reputation
Margarite is generally accepted to be the most proficient conspirator on Bailen. She largely respected and feared. As she's older, she sees less need to go out into social scene except on major occasions, where she is treated as a queen by friends and foes alike. That said, under her reign, the LaPointes have been devious and ruthless at times, and so she has few close friends. But no one can question how her House has advanced science, built cultural institution, and when there was a crisis, lent strength to Ecumune to help it grow. She'll protect her interests without hesitation, but you can trust her to do that.
