Ph'ri Forest (/fə'ri/)
The Ph'ri Forest is ancient, having stood since before recorded history. Elves tell stories of their ancestors having lived there, but if they ever did, it was over ten thousand years in the past. For all of recorded history, the forest has been devoid of humans, gnomes, and elves. A few orcs are rumored to live in the region, as well as firbolg, but that is unverified.
The forest is shrouded in a peculiar legend, not widely told. According to this legend, long ago the Feywalkers were elves or eladrin, perhaps. They thirsted for true immortality and betrayed their culture by enacting magical rituals. These rituals are said to have made them into the genderless and immortal magical creatures that are very occassionally encountered today. Their ritual is said to have cursed the forest.
What is certain is that the elves of Ãkthi refer to Ph'ri only in hushed whispers, if they speak of it, at all. Often, they use the name Rejughinâth, rather than Ph'ri. The meaning of that word is lost, but it seems to have a similar root to the word rehinîth, which means "accursed".
