King Hwæke
King Hwæke is the capital city of Galumær. The various Barbus of centuries past have always ruled from the Centertower, which lives up to its name and rises high from the near midpoint of the city. The city has been rebuilt many times over, and its circling walls act similarly to tree rings to demonstrate the ages of given neighborhoods. Hwæke University maintains its campus in the central-western section of the city, a place
The Age of the City
Famously, King Hwæke has regularly seen construction in the form of adapting older buildings to new architectural styles and stronger defensive capabilities. Even though a major threat has not come close to King Hwæke in nearly seven decades, there is always some kind of building updating happening at any given time. The only things that do not see regular updating are the rings of walls in the city, which are given regular upkeep but not altered in terms of style. These walls track the centuries of history in Galumær, with some inscribed graffiti and old magical runes remaining over the course of centuries. It has been noted that this seems to go against the fierce traditionalism of Galumær, but scholars of the nation
The Centertower
The Centertower is currently over three hundred feet tall, with its height maintained by a combination of incredibly careful and innovative construction and regular magical reinforcement. It has been said that the Barbu will add a new level with every major military victory, and that the tradition started back when Galumær was a tenth its current size.
Hwæke University
Hwæke University, the first great institute of learning in the Southlands, is nearing its two hundredth anniversary and thus planning a great celebration. The university has a campus which includes nearly thirty separate buildings, including a naturally occurring underground cavern and several hundred acres of open land outside the city's rings of walls. Hwæke University's Department of Magic is currently led by a magician named Arconi Modell, whose research is currently focused on decoding and adapting ancient Druidic texts taken from a raid into Flatstone Forest.
