Grandin Mountain

Grandin Mountain is the highest mountain in the world, standing at 24,609 feet (7,500m) above sea level. Grandin Mountain is a major site of political, religious, and cultural heritage for the people of Dis, where it resides.   As part of the Eastern Lung Mountain Range, Grandin Mountain is home to a wide range of reptiles, most famously the Wyvern, Drake, and Stepping Snake, which are all believed to be related to the extinct dragons of antiquity. A variety of wyvern, known as the King Wyvern, is the only known species of warm-blooded reptile in the world. The King Wyvern is featured on the livery of the Dis flag and monarchical regalia.   A longstanding tradition in Dis is for people to ascend to a plateau known as Destiny's Drop, some 21,000 feet up on the northeastern side of Grandin Mountain. Destiny's Drop is used as a site of succession and coronation for the royal family - there is a sort of superstition that if one cannot conquer the mountain, they cannot rule their kingdom.
