Rocket AMR
The Rocket AMR is a unique fire arm. It’s an anti material rifle which fires Gyrojet Ammunition in a bullpup format. Since the AMR is configured in a bullpup fashion, and because Gyrojet ammunition receives less of a benefit from a longer barrel than standard ammunition does, the barrel length is much smaller compared to other rifles, let alone sniper rifles. In fact, the only reason the barrel doesn’t end at the handle is to give enough room for a forward grip and so the scope doesn’t extend past the barrel. Due to the short barrel, the underside of the weapon has no room for any sort of attachments or modularization. Because of this, the weapon has a built in foldable bipod built into the top of the weapon. Two metal rods with flat feet sit parallel above the barrel at 45 degree angle from each other. They can be folded outwards to extend below the weapon to act as a bipod to stabilize aim. However do the the fact that Gyrojet ammunition natively has very low recoil, the weapon can easily be fired without support, standing up. However, even with all of these benefits, the weapon is still rare to see on the battlefield. This is due to numerous disadvantages, some at the fault of the gun and some outside of the manufacturers control. A disadvantage tied to the gun’s design is the above average complexity. The built in bipod, bullpup format, and internal magazine adds a lot of machined parts which increases the cost of the gun. Using Gyrojet ammunition makes it less adaptable since Gyrojet is almost exclusive to large caliber cannons for space ships. However the biggest drawback that is something the manufacturers can’t really work around is the small need for AMRs. The biggest threat to the United Imperial States is the Independence of Metros, which most conflict is commonly fought in space. The small chance of a ground invasion using armored vehicles has left the military only purchasing a small number of these AMRs with the majority of purchases coming from international buyers
