Zygerria

Zyger System

The Zyger System is entered around the G-type main-sequence star Zyger. The system consists of six primary planets and a scattering of moons, dwarf planets, and asteroid fields. Closest to the star lies Zyger I, a scorched, airless rock pitted with craters and rich in metals, Zyger II, a barren desert world with thin atmosphere, holds little of value beyond scattered mineral deposits. The jewel of the system is Zyger III, also known as Zygerria, with its temperate habital environment. Zyger IV, a frozen terrestrial world locked in permafrost, Zyger V is a massive gas giant with a colorful banded atmosphere and a large family of moons, some hosting outposts. On the system’s edge lies Zyger VI, an icy dwarf planet located between Zyger IV and Zyger V lies an asteroid belt rich in raw ores and volatile ices.

Main World: Zyger III (Zygerria)
Classification: Terrestrial
Atmosphere: Breathable
Population: Zygerrian Dominated, with large slave population   Zygerria is a temperate, rocky planet defined by sweeping plains broken by towering mesas and dramatic rock formations. with elevation shifts transforming stretches of flatlands into rugged highlands of rolling hills and jagged outcrops. A massive world ocean covers roughly sixty percent of the surface, fed by rivers that cut through the land and by polar ice caps that sustain a steady cycle of water The fertile plains support the cultivation of grains, vegetables, and vineyards that produce strong wines and liquors, while the highlands and rock formations yield valuable minerals. This blend of arable land and mineral wealth has made Zygerria largely self-sufficient, while still offering valuable exports to foreign markets. The planet’s geography thus provides both the natural abundance that sustains its people and the raw materials that empower its empire.
The world supports hardy life adapted to its exposed terrain. Herds of plains grazers migrate along the plains, while great Wyverns dominate the skies as apex aerial predators. Some Wyverns have been domesticated as swift mounts, allowing Zygerrians to travel quickly from mesa to mesa. Vegetation is resilient, with cliff-clinging succulents and the Zygerrian Nectar Tree serving as defining species within the native ecology. Smaller scavenger species thrive around grazing herds, while predatory pack-beasts stalk the highland valleys. Seasonal blooms of hardy wildflowers transform the plains with vibrant color before fading back.

By the time the Galactic Empire discovered Zygerria, the native Zygerrians had already developed a semi-feudal autocracy led by a powerful monarch. Recognizing the Zygerrians' inherent drive to dominate and enslave other species, a reflection of their "might makes right" philosophy, the Empire found this trait useful in managing other subjugated populations, granting Zygerrians some leniency as slave traders under Imperial rule. However, the Empire’s policy prohibiting non-humans from holding royal titles posed a complication for Zygerria’s leadership. To navigate this, the most powerful Zygerrians were allowed to form an official Slavers Guild, which, quite fortuitously, ended up being led by the former monarch. This clever maneuver allowed Zygerria to maintain its social structure and expand its economy, particularly as Imperial nobles sought alien laborers, embedding the Zygerrian slave trade more deeply into the Empire's fabric.   Long before the Empire’s arrival, Zygerrians had mastered the use of slave labor, building sprawling fortresses and cities atop the planet’s scattered mesas. This reliance on forced labor only intensified under Imperial subjugation, positioning Zygerria as a thriving hub in the galactic slave trade. When the Galactic Civil War erupted, Imperial control over Zygerria weakened. Both the planet and the Slavers Guild eventually operated independently from the fractured Empire. Centuries of prosperity under Imperial rule had cemented Zygerria's role as a key player in the slave labor industry, securing its economic power and ensuring the continuation of the slave trade. As a result, Zygerria emerged as a powerful center for the slave trade, its economic foundations firmly entrenched over centuries of exploitation. The collapse of Imperial authority did not diminish this practice; instead, it allowed the Zygerrians to expand their operations, further securing their dominance in the industry.   Today, Zygerria serves as the capital of the expanding Slave Empire, with its influence spreading to nearby systems. The Zygerrian Slavers Guild wields considerable power across the galaxy, solidifying Zygerria’s status as a central hub for both trade and control. Additionally, Zygerria hosts annual races that attract spectators, gamblers, and figures from the Galactic underworld.
