Vehicles
LAUV SW/LW,Cheetah
the Light Armored Utility Vehicle, commonly known as the Cheetah, is a fast small armoured vehicle, that comes in either a Short Wheelbase (SW) or Long Wheelbase (LW) version. it can be fitted with any number of top mounted weapons that can be serviced by the crew. the SW can only carry 3 soldiers and their kit, but has a very high speed of 120 kph. the LW is bigger and can carry up to 5 soldiers and all their equipment, but with the increased size comes a slower top speed (100 kph). even though they in all other mechanical aspects are the same.Medium Armored Vehicle (family)
Reconnaissance Combat Vehicle, Jaguar is the main vehicle of the wheeled cavalry. based on the same chassis design as the rest of the MAV family, but heavily redesigned to fit the needs of the wheeled cavalry. it is equipped with a 2 man crewed turret, seating the gunner and commander. armed 76mm auto cannon, with a rate of fire of 120 rpm. further it is equipped with a laser warning receiver, a laser range finder, Infrared search and track (IRST), dual control Fire control system. further it is equipped with a search radar that in conjunction with the IRST enables the Jaguar to also operate in an Self-defence role. in the front of the hull the driver position is located. the rear engine compartment seats a 800 hp engine that allows the vehicle to move at 120 kph in most terrains.Infantry Combat Vehicle, Puma is the main vehicle of the Medium Mobile Infantry, equipped with a remote controlled turret, with an extendable gun assembly that can be lowered into the base of the turret for transportation. the main weapon is a 30mm auto-cannon. it comes equipped with a thermal sighting system, laser range finder and a dual-controlled Fire control system. seated in a side by side configuration is the driver and gunner in the front crew compartment. behind the crew compartment, in a separate compartment the 400 hp engine is found, allowing the vehicle to move up to 105 kph depending on terrain. behind the engine compartment, the passenger compartment with seating for up to 9 soldiers is located. one of the seats functions as a commanders seats, having override controls for the top mounted gun. the passenger compartment is accessible by rear ramp.
Universal Transport Vehicle, is the base configuration that all other types within the MAV familiy is based. the UTV in its most basic configuration has a frontal crew compartment with side by side seating for driver and an potential gunner. behind the crew compartment, the engine compartment with the standard 400hp engine is found. the rear compartment that is accessible by rear ramp, can either be configured as an APC with seating for up to 10 soldiers. or seats can be left out to allow for more storage space for anything that would be required to be transported under armour.
Communications Command Vehicle, is a command and control vehicle that can operate either as a mobile command post or as a communications and control centre for drone operations. the main difference from the UTV is the rear compartment. in the CCV the rear compartment is set up with 4 work stations, that allows for surveillance, communications, control and command of the battle space. to aid in this the roof is equipped with a relay dish and several antenna. typically CCVs will be equipped with a remote controlled weapons station mounted overhead of the gunners position in the frontal crew compartment, commonly armed with a HMG for self defence.
Engineer Combat Vehicle, is set up very similarly to the UTV, with the main difference being features that allows for the attachment of a hydraulically powered dozer blade to the front. in the ECV configuration the rear compartment is typically fitted with seating for 6 soldiers, with the freed up internal space used for storage of engineering tools.
Multi-purpose Cargo Vehicle, as the name suggests is a multifunctional cargo carrying variant. on the MCV the entire rear compartment have been replaced by a hydraulically powered hook lift mechanism that allows for the quick movement of a series of different standard container types.
Field Ambulance Vehicle, is the main ground vehicle of the medical units within the FAS, that enables the most advanced preclinical treatment before transfer to an aid post. it maintains the same crew compartment and engine set up as the UTV. but the rear compartment has been replaced with a slightly raised Ambulance compartment that allows for the seating of up to 2 medics, and a stretcher carrier system, with room for up to 6 stretcher bound patients.
Structure
A single legion is typically led by a Colonel. For the space component each ship is typically led by a Captain.
For the ground component a Legion is made up of 10 Cohorts, each led by a Commander typically situated in the Command Company of the Cohort. each Legion is typically made up of 8 "Line" Cohorts and 2 "Support" Cohorts. each Line Cohort is made up of 1 Command and Logistics Company, 4 Combat Companies and 1 Support Company. a Support Cohort is made up of 1 Command Company and 5 Support Companies. Each Company is led by a Captain situated in that company´s command and logistics platoon.
Each "Line" Cohort is in itself a small combined arms unit. that in theory can be made of any mix of combat companies. though typically a given cohort will have some form of specialization with more of a specific company type. Within the FAS there are generally three types of Infantry cohorts; Light, Medium and Air. Two types of Cavalry Cohorts; Wheeled and Air. Due to variations in logistical and logistical needs, the support company within each Line Cohort is tailored to fit the needs of its Cohort.
below is charts for the different types of combat companies each cohort can include. ranks shown are minium required rank for position.
The Light Mobile Infantry Company, is a highly mobile but lightly armoured and armed infantry unit, but possess greater tactical mobility and the ability to execute missions in severely restrictive terrain and in areas where weather makes vehicular mobility difficult. even though the Light Mobile infantry is equipped with LW Cheetah they are focused on an ability to fighting dismounted and bringing a high mass of infantry into restrictive terrains, and tactically dont put a high reliance on vehicles. The Company HQ´s command group is equipped with a LW Cheetah enabling it to equip relocate across the the company area of operatisations. together with the command group there is a protection group equipped with AT weapons and mounted in SW cheetah´s, that can deployed anywhere within the AO to provide an added anti-vehicle capability. and if that is not needed they function as a protection detail for the company commander and the company´s attached medical group. beside the command platoon there is also 3 infantry platoons. each made up of a HQ group of 4 soldiers, with a platoon commander, platoon chief sergeant, platoon medic and platoon drone operator. the HQ group is issued with a Sandfly Drone and LW Cheetah. further to the HQ there is 3 Combat groups within each platoon. each made up of 8 soldiers, led by a Sergeant and equipped with 2 LW Cheetahs. tactically each group is divided into two fire-teams, to enable effective fire and manoeuvrer. these to fire-teams are commonly referred to by "Assault Team" and "Support Team".
The Medium Mobile Infantry Company is Mounted in the ICV PUMA and add a lot of organic firepower compared to that the Light and Air Mobile infantry companies. The company command element is mounted in a CCV and have a single UCAV Mosquito, that helps the company commander to survey and command over a wider area. and with the weaponry on the UCAV a light air strike ability integral within the company. within the companies command element the administration group helps coordinate the logistics for the entire company, and is equipped with ICV PUMA to give it protection while moving around the companies AO, the attached medical group provides advanced medical support for the company. outside of the command element, each company is made up of 3 Medium infantry platoons. within each platoon there is 3 combat groups with 9 soldiers and 1 ICV. since the HQ group is not issued with its own ICV, they will generally be mounted with their individual combat groups. to minimize threat the Chief Sergeant and the platoon medic, will always be mounted with a different combat group than that of the platoon commander and drone specialist. within the medium infantry each group will commonly subdivide into 3 teams, 2 teams within the dismount element, and a vehicle team.
