Eos Prime
Eos System
The Eos System orbits a cool K-type star and contains five planets, a dense asteroid belt, and multiple moon systems. Eos Prime, the second planet, is the system’s main population hub. The innermost planet, Eos I, is a lifeless rockball with remnants of abandoned early colonial infrastructure. Smaller colonies are scattered throughout the system, including mining installations in the asteroid belt and hydrogen processing facilities on the moons of Eos IV, a massive gas giant dominating the outer system. Eos III hosts a small orbital station extracting rare isotopes from its largest moon. At the system’s edge lies Eos V, an ice giant. The system is quiet but well-patrolled due to its historic and strategic importance to the Dominion.Main World: Eos Prime
Classification: Habitable Ice WorldAtmosphere: Breathable, cold, and fog-laden
Population: Multispecies, high-density urban centers
Eos Prime is a frozen world, its surface cloaked in thick ice broken by lush geothermal oases. These hotspots support unique flora and fauna and contain the planet’s only habitable zones amid vast glaciers and towering ice spires. Each winter, the glaciers produce the haunting “Glacial Song,” a natural resonance from solar winds passing through the ice, celebrated system-wide. Remnants of forgotten structures such as vaults, sealed shafts, and infrastructure fragments lie buried beneath the oases. Some have been studied by archaeologists, but most remain unexplored and absent from official records. Their origin is unknown. The planet’s colonization reasons are lost to history. After the first Duros Rebellions the population surged as refugees, veterans, and frontier families from across the galaxy arrived seeking new beginnings and settled here. Over time, it became a refuge for retired Imperial personnel and loyalists. Today sprawling megalopolises lie in the centers of the fertile geothermal zones. The highly diverse population reflects an almost utopian society, with species from across Imperial space united by a cooperative spirit. Eos Prime’s geothermal zones can not only sustain life but power it. These naturally heated regions provide stable sources of clean and reliable energy that form the backbone of the planet’s power grid. Meanwhile, their fertile soils support a modest agricultural sector that is spatially limited by competing demands on the scarce supply of usable land. Despite its modest size, the agricultural sector yields hardy grains, medicinal plants, and exotic fruits cultivated in controlled environments, producing just enough to support the population with only limited exports. The backbone of the system’s economy, however, lies in mining and fuel processing. Rich metallic deposits are extracted and refined with high efficiency. Just as vital is the large-scale production of hydrogen fuel, drawn from subsurface ice, harvested on the outer moons, and skimmed from the gas giant. This resource not only powers the Eos system but also supports Dominion fleets and deep-range shipping routes. Governor Publius Ostorius Paulinus is remembered as the unifier of the Eos System, credited with steering its future away from marginalization. At a time when Imperial planners proposed converting parts of the system into a penal colony, Paulinus rallied civic leaders, veterans, and settlers to resist the measure. Through careful diplomacy and sweeping civic initiatives, he helped transform Eos into a model of interspecies cooperation. He championed public education, cultural integration programs, and durable civic infrastructure, laying the foundation for the system’s lasting social cohesion. His name lives on in public monuments, civic holidays, and the enduring pride of Eosians.
