Dragonborn

The Dragonborn of the Stolen Expanse are a proud and mysterious race—humanoids bearing the blood of ancient dragons, shaped not merely by lineage, but by purpose. They are the scions of a forgotten pact, forged in the earliest ages between mortal champions and true dragons, meant to preserve the essence of draconic will through turbulent ages.

Each Dragonborn bears the mark of their draconic ancestry in vivid scale colors, elemental breath, and primal instincts. Their physical forms are imposing: tall, muscular, with reptilian features—scales, clawed hands, and powerful tails in some bloodlines. Their eyes gleam like molten metal or burning coals, betraying the ancient force that stirs within.

But Dragonborn are not born randomly. In Levial, they appear only in times of great change or upheaval, often heralded by omens—comets, volcanic storms, or dreams shared across entire bloodlines. Some believe they are chosen, not born, their souls called from the Dreaming Flame to take form when the world is in need.

Culture and Purpose

Dragonborn do not possess a singular homeland. Instead, they form nomadic enclaves or swear fealty to orders, temples, or causes that resonate with their ancestral purpose. Some dwell in high mountain aeries, others in volcanic sanctums or deep desert citadels where the bones of ancient wyrms lie buried.

They revere ancestry above all—whether their bloodline descends from chromatic tyrants or metallic sages, each Dragonborn seeks to embody or overcome the legacy left by their progenitor. Some view their existence as a divine test; others embrace it as a claim to rightful power.

Their societies are structured around honor, oaths, and the preservation of legacy. Name-rituals, trial-by-fire rites, and draconic scripture form the core of their traditions. The breath they wield is not just a weapon—it is a symbol of their soul’s nature.

Relations and Reputation

To many across Levial, Dragonborn are viewed with awe and suspicion. In the Age of Darkness, where True Dragons have largely vanished or gone mad beyond the Veil, Dragonborn are seen as remnants of an age too powerful to fully trust. Some see them as harbingers of divine will; others, as dangerous relics born to stir old fires best left dead.

Their presence often shifts the course of prophecy or war. A single Dragonborn commander is worth a dozen knights. A Dragonborn sage might speak with the voice of a god—or a wyrm.
