- Restaurant to Another World (Anime) - A modern Japanese restaurant serving Western cuisine has a magical doorway that opens up to seemingly random locations in a fantasy alternate world every Saturday. People of all sort from the world discover the doorways and make a point of trying the exotic dishes from another world, lending insight into their lives and outlooks on life.
- Legends & Lattes (Novel) - An Ork Adventurer decides it's time to lay down her sword and introduce the world to her favorite drink; coffee. A low-stakes fantasy story about starting a small business and finding how to start over in life.
- Red Dragon Inn (Card Game) - Adventurers take a break in their favorite tavern to drink and gamble. Different characters play with different decks of cards, and little stories about their lives abound.
- Delicious in Dungeon (Anime) - Young and broke adventurers delve into a dungeon to save a lost member of their team. To survive they decide to forage food from the dungeon ecosystem, discovering more than they imagined about how their world works (and eating delicious food along the way).
Inspiration & Recommended Works
As we play around with the Stewpot concept, I figured it would be a good idea to share some works that might help and inspire each other.
I've also just reread the first two Kingkiller novels, where Kvothe has changed his name and retired to run an inn. That's The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear.
Some more stuff I thought of:
- Frieren - Beyond Journey's End (Anime) - An elven mage that helped the legendary hero vanquish the Demon King retraces her route she traveled 40 years after the hero died of old age. It's an examination of the echos left by her party and the unique perspective she has as being near-immortal.
- Kakuriyo - Bed & Breakfast for Spirits (Anime) - A young woman is brought to the world of Japanese spirits and monsters to work off the debt of her grandfather after his passing. She must now work at the prestigious Inn where she produces dishes for these otherworldly beings to help them relax.
