Open Casting Call - NPC Pitches

There is more to the world of Stewpot than the Tavern Owners, even if the main players will tend to fixate on our creations. But sometimes we need background cast, folks that come in as guests, or traders we interact with. And sometimes writer's block can make coming up with secondary characters intimidating or just cases where a helping hand is needed. Think of this thread as the place where new characters show up and introduce themselves, hoping one day they might be cast in a scene or even become a full NPC on the Tavern List. There is no guarantee of writers picking ideas from this space, but it can be a fun way to play with ideas and allow folks following the story (without being a writer) to make some contributions.   Needed information:
  • Name/Nickname
  • Profession/Class
  • Species
  • Short physical description
  • Short personality description

  • Helpful Information: Catchphrases, sample dialog, quirks, likes/dislikes, how they might encounter The Tavern

Name/Nickname: Bothildr Erling, AKA "Hildr."   Profession/Class: Farmer turned Barmaid   Species: Human   Short physical description: Hildr is a short, rather broad woman, who is clearly no stranger to hard work. She typically wears muted hues and simple clothes, having lived most of her life in relative poverty. She favors utilitarian clothing and wears boots rather than shoes. She keeps her hair tied back in a neat bun, her hair auburn. Her blue eyes are friendly though often appear tired. Her face is creased by age, sun and weather, but she still looks rather lively, despite being nearly fifty years of age.   Short personality description: Hildr is a born hard worker. She believes that if you aren't doing anything productive, you'd best find something, lest you turn to frivolous and mischievous things. Hildr thinks that things like adventuring are the domains of the young and foolish, emphasis on foolish, and that everyone would be better served if they settled down and minded their own business. Hildr is however a friendly sort, and usually has an enthusiastic greeting for those who enter the tavern.   Notes/Some History: Hildr is a widow. She has three sons and two daughters, all of them adults by now, some having moved on from Rivermeet. She and her husband ran a farm until her husband's passing, at which point she sold the farm to her neighbor and moved into Rivermeet proper, at which point she found work in Caliban's Haven as a barmaid. Most of what she does is clean tables, clean mugs, and generally keep the place tidy. She is largely grateful to the owners and founders of Caliban's Haven for her employment, though her headstrong nature and her drive to be ever-productive sometimes clash with certain members of the group. Despite her lack of experience in waiting tables and serving drinks, Hildr does her best.
